A dammuso in Pantelleria
A small complex of two dammusi overlooking the sea of cala Martingana surrounded by margette, the typical terraces of the island.
The high house that takes up the original complex offers a large eat-in kitchen, a bedroom with a relaxation corner, a small single room and a bathroom
The lower house built later in the characteristic dammuso shape offers a large bedroom, a bathroom and a small study.
Cala Martingana is located in the southernmost point of the island, opposite the town of Pantelleria. It is climatically the most beautiful place on the island. The ridge behind it protects the cove from the prevailing mistral winds.
In the summer months the sea is always calm and the daytime and evening temperatures are very mild.
Cala Martingana is also included in the National Park of the Island of Pantelleria and in the future Marine Reserve. To the right and to the left of the cove there are some of the most pristine places on the island: stacks, caves, bays, beaches inaccessible from land.
Pantelleria is located in the center of the Strait of Sicily 110 km southwest of Sicily and 70 east of Tunisia, whose coast is sometimes visible to the naked eye.
Its territory is of volcanic origin. The last eruption took place, in 1891, on the north-western slope, in the submerged part. There are still many secondary volcanic phenomena, mainly hot waters and steam puffs.
The island reaches an altitude of 836 m above sea level with the Montagna Grande.
