Martingana and the bay of the same name are located in the Dietro Isola district which, as the name implies, indicates the areas south of Pantelleria. A road separates from the perimeter and descends, through a series of loops, for about 1 km, to the sea.
Unlike other areas of the island, there is little built up, only a small group of houses is gathered between the terraces and constitutes the main nucleus of the “inhabited” area. Virtually uninhabited in winter, it comes to life from late spring to autumn when the tourists who live in the houses take possession of it.
The sea area is rocky (it is also called the beach of the fakirs) but there is a small dock for boats which, in addition to allowing easy access to the water, also allows you to easily lie down near the shore.
Martingana is the ideal place for those who love peace and do not mind waking up at dawn for a swim in complete relaxation.
