Arrived on the island from Milan, with a group of friends, for the first time in 1968 Pantelleria has become the fixed half of all summers. The dammuso has grown with me and my family to become what it is today.

Until the end of the 90s there was no electricity and still connections with the outside world take place via satellite connection (the normal fixed and mobile telephone network does not reach the area) which also allows access to the internet and telephone calls via Voip systems ( watsapp, skype, etc …).

Unlike places closer to inhabited centers or more well-known villages, Martingana was chosen precisely for its isolation – an aspect it still retains today – and the neighboring direct to the sea like few other areas on the island.
